Cordell & Cordell was co-founded in 1990 by Joseph E. Cordell and his wife, Yvonne, as a general practice firm with a focus on men’s divorce and family law.

Mr. Cordell noticed about 98% of the firm’s clients were men, and the need for a level playing field in divorce courts sparked the idea of Cordell & Cordell.

“During the course of that experience I couldn’t help but notice the challenges consistently facing the guys’ side of the table when it comes to custody, maintenance issues, and accusations of domestic violence,” Mr. Cordell said. “I found in waging those fights that I enjoyed it more. So we proclaimed ourselves as a firm that devoted itself to representing men in domestic relations matters.”

The firm has developed the unique experience and familiarity with the male perspective as it is affected in the family law courts to allow our clients to feel comfortable that their point of view is understood and accurately represented.

Our belief is that too often divorce lawyers and even judges resign themselves to stereotypes and thus perpetuate the status quo.
